Over the past 15 years, he’s been her quiet strength: co-parenting through the complexities of blended family life, navigating storms of health challenges, and showing up without fail. When Rainey chose to step away from her birth name and reclaim her identity, Rick didn’t just support her—he helped her choose the name Rainey. Because for him, loving her wasn’t a choice. It was a truth he couldn’t shake.
Through chaos, change, and the deepest valleys, Rick remains her steady cup—strong, grounding, and full of heart.
Raising 3 Kids into Respectful Adults with Kids of Their Own
I am and have always been a single mom -- 3+2 -- and these kids are my Rock, my Solid Ground and my Muse. Each one has taught me something different about love, strength and resilience.
My Scholar and my little Back Bone - both are full of tenacity and keep me going ... even when life feels heavy.
My heart is full ... as my little family has shaped the woman I have become.
I raised my oldest alone while in college and I managed to graduate from Corrections.
Later, I moved to a new city while I was pregnant with my second. Starting over again, but determined to build a better life.
In the middle of all that chaos, God blessed me my youngest -- a reminder that beauty can rise from turmoil.
My life has always been a storm, yet like the Phoenix, I have risen from the ashes every time.
And now, watching my daughter with her two boys - seeing her create her own story - feels like one of my many circles in my life has come full. <3
